Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is a hands-on therapy that can help to reduce stress levels, improve postural issues, relieve pain from injuries or general muscular tension, and promote a sense of well-being. It is usually aimed at addressing a specific area of tightness or pain in the body, to reduce or prevent pain or promote motion of the affected areas.

Sessions usually consist of first taking a thorough health history, and may include postural, movement or musculoskeletal assessments prior to treatment.

Remedial massage treatments usually incorporate a variety of techniques which may include deep tissue massage trigger point therapy, myofascial release, stretching, or kinesiology taping, depending on what is required by the client.

You may also be recommended stretching, myofascial self release techniques or movement exercises for home to continue with your treatment plan in between appointments.

Structural Integration

Structural Integration is ideal for those who have chronic pain, reduced movement or mobility through the body or areas of general tension that create discomfort. It is aimed at finding the cause of the problem, so you may find that during the treatment the focus may be on an area that is different to where you are experiencing pain or tension. You may also be given movement cues and suggestions to take home with you to help integrate the changes that occur with each session.

Structural Integration can help with chronic tension, pain or stress due to poor posture, limited or restricted movement during exercise, tension or limited movement caused by repetitive strain or tasks, improving athletic performance, and creating more body awareness and ease of movement.

Structural Integration focuses on releasing restrictions in the fascia of the body. By easing the restrictions and adhesions in the fascia, your body will start to move differently – you may feel a sense of more space, or even just become more aware of parts of your body that you didn’t realize were not moving freely. You may feel more connected to your body and find new ways to move, helping to remove limitations to your lifestyle.
